Option 3 · John's Monday
A Monday morning at Optro

Meet John.

He's an FDE pod lead at Optro Practice. He runs three pre-IPO SOX engagements concurrently — Helios, Borealis, Spectrum — on a 12-month fixed-price cadence. This is the next 90 minutes of his Monday.

9:15 AM
Coffee. Three engagements.
John opens Practice. His three pilots are stacked on the home screen with T-minus countdowns. Borealis has a red banner — T-3 months, under 100 days to S-1. Helios is mid-engagement. Spectrum just kicked off two weeks ago.

John clicks Borealis first. Always the worst card first.

Borealis — the urgent one
Three open testing exceptions. Margin running 18 points below estimate. Greg from Midship left a note Friday: customer is pushing back on the remediation deadline.

John scans the milestone list. Stage 4 testing is the active stage. The first cycle is done, but two of the three exceptions are still in Issuer reviewed. He updates one to Issuer signed — the issuer's control owner accepted the JE threshold remediation Friday — and types a note: "JE threshold remediation accepted by issuer control owner. Two exceptions remaining; pushing for resolution by EOW so Deloitte can walk them next week."

Helios — mid-engagement check
Helios is at T-8, in Remediation. Pranav (the Helios Controller, who John talks to weekly) updated him this morning: the control narrative review with the team came in on schedule. John marks Control narratives (full set) as Customer Sign-off. Stage 2 is now fully done.

The margin chip moves from 52% to 52% — unchanged, but he just freed up ~6 budgeted hours he can move to Stage 3 remediation work.

Spectrum — kickoff prep
Spectrum's PwC kickoff call is Wednesday. John needs the PwC control universe matrix. He opens Templates, filters to T-12 · Scoping + PwC — one result. He clicks in, hits Copy. Now the Spectrum doc is seeded.

Playbook update
John noticed something on the Borealis testing exceptions last week — the JE threshold pattern was identical to a Helios finding from Q1. He opens the Playbook, jumps to Stage 3 → Remediation patterns. Adds a note: "JE threshold gaps are showing up across pilots. Consider promoting from 'common pattern' to 'preempt in Stage 2 design.'"

This is the operating-model loop closing. Every observation across the pilots flows back into the playbook. The playbook gets sharper. Future engagements get faster.

End of day
Three engagements moved forward.
Margin held at 49% blended.
One playbook update.
That's the fixed-price operating model. Practice is the surface that makes the loop reliable enough to scale.
